I knew Bette as a fellow mentor teacher in RUSD. She came to Gage the year I left the classroom and we often chatted about students we both knew. 

I also live in the condos across the street from where the accident occurred. I often see the memorial for her that is still evident and am reminded of her and her love of teaching and of her students.

I hope loving memories have helped her family during their time of grief. As the old saying goes, we don't know where our influence ends (as educators). But I do know there are many students who benefited from the education and love she provided.
